    Getting off on the right foot with your therapist or coach

    It’s natural to feel nervous. You’re meeting a stranger whom you’re being asked to open up to with personal details of your life.

    At your first meeting, check in with yourself to ask:

    • Do you feel safe and not judged?
    • Do you feel free to say what might be hard for you to say, express what’s been pent up inside you, to feel and share your full range of emotions?
    • Alternatively, do you feel the freedom to not know, and be able to explore yourself with someone who helps you navigate your inner conflicts and make sense of them?
